The six hundred and sixty-ninth album: #669 Depeche Mode - Violator
I feel like we're approaching a change here. This album still draws on 80s electronic pop, but there's a depth and emotion here that wasn't always there at the time. Enjoy the Silence, for example, hits me a bit more than a pure electro pop track might. It's well put together, extremely good to listen to, and still effective.
